Remember back when we discussed how to find out whether you’re eligible to vote? YOU DON’T?!?!? Sorry, I just switched to dark roast… Well in that post I may have mentioned that in Canada it is incredibly easy to vote. I believe that I even compared it to a microwave dinner. Turns out that may have not been an accurate analogy. Turns out it’s even easier than that.
But what if you don’t the five minutes to go and mark an X next to a name despite the fact that people all over the world would kill for that opportunity and people literally died to let you? Yeah. Guilt trip. It’s OK though. Because you can still take part in the process on your schedule. Potentially without even leaving your home (assuming you’ve trained your pet to deliver mail to the mailbox, but let’s be honest, who hasn’t?).
I’m talking about advance polls and absentee ballots. Contrary to what some people seem to think, you don’t actually need a reason to avail yourself of either of these options. Well, maybe you do. But fortunately, “I’m just too lazy” is a good enough reason.
To vote in the advance polls, all you need to do is visit any of the polling places. Literally any of them. You don’t even have to go to the one in your riding (that is only true for advanced polls). Need a reminder on how to know which riding you’re in? Luckily TTC has you covered. There is an advanced polling place in each riding and they are open Tuesday the 9th to Saturday the 13th from 9 am to 8 pm. Click here for a list of locations.
But let’s say that is STILL too much work for you (or you know, you’ll be away). Well you can literally vote by mail. Click here to get a special ballot mailed to you. Simply mark your vote and mail it back. Not terribly difficult.
So, there you have it. Voting with all the convenience of delivery pizza. Now you really have no excuse.
