How do I know if I’m Eligible to Vote?

Did you know that you have to be registered to vote?  It’s how you know where you can vote.  Many people don’t know this because its remarkably easy to register in this country.  You can even show up to the polling place and do it on the spot.  So, while its not critical that you do it ahead of time, it does speed this up and makes it easier.  And that’s how we Canadians like our democracy – with the same convenience as a microwave dinner.

Fortunately, you can quickly check not only whether you’re registered, but also whether all the information is correct.  You can even do it between crying sessions while you wait for the next episode This is Us to queue up.  Through the magic of the interwebs.  And you clearly are savvy at internetting because you found this humble source of comedy and information.

Just click here and enter the information it asks for and it’ll tell you what riding you’re in and if you are registered.  It’s seriously easy.  Then stay tuned to TTC for information about how to research your local candidates and where you actually go to vote.

If you want to get started on your research, check out our posts on getting to know the parties:  part 1 and part 2.

I encourage you to comment with your thoughts.  I love to debate and clarify.  Before you engage though, please take a moment to review the FAQ and About TTC pages.
